Tell us a bit about yourself.
I graduated from NZMA in 2013 with my Diploma in Applied Hospitality Management and BTEC with distinction, having completed my internship at The Elephant Wrestler and Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna. Shortly after graduating I moved to Chateau Tongariro Hotel in the heart of Tongariro National Park. I spent a year there working as a bar supervisor, before heading further south to develop my hospitality career in Queenstown.
You’ve been living in Queenstown for a couple of years now. Tell us about it.
Queenstown is a small town in New Zealand known all over the world for its hospitality, wine, magnificent scenery and outdoor activities. I love living here! My first job here was as a restaurant and bar manager for well-known French restaurant and patisserie Les Alpes. I was the sole charge for the restaurant and thanks to the establishment’s extensive French wine cellar I also developed my knowledge of wine and spirits. From Les Alpes I moved to Hamills as a restaurant and bar manager, and I am still working there today, with my wife now working alongside me as a chef!
What are your plans from here?
My wife and I are currently in the process of gaining our New Zealand residency. One day, in the not-too-distant-future, I’d like to own my own restaurant here. I have always had a passion for the hospitality industry – I’m not afraid of hard work and I love people.
