Ensuring the fulfilment of every learner’s needs is a top priority at Yoobee Colleges, and this commitment is evident in the comprehensive services offered by the Learner Success Team across the group: Yoobee College of Creative Innovation (YCCI), Elite School of Beauty and Spa (Elite), Cut Above Academy, and New Zealand School of Tourism (NZST).

At the helm of the Learner Success Team is Kelly Stevens, a qualified adult teacher and facilitator with 11 years of experience in the broader UP Education group. Rachael Atkinson serves as the team lead, partnering with Kelly to guide a team of five dedicated Learner Success Coordinators situated on campus, poised to provide assistance whenever needed.

To foster early engagement with the Learner Success Team, learners can confidentially disclose any barriers they may encounter during the enrolment process. These barriers encompass impairments, disabilities, medical conditions, or injuries, with the assurance that this information remains private and inaccessible to others without explicit permission.

Upon disclosure, students meet with their assigned Learner Success Coordinator, collaboratively creating a personalised support plan. The Learner Success Coordinators at Yoobee bring extensive knowledge and experience to the table, with some boasting educational backgrounds and others offering first-hand familiarity with the challenges faced by incoming learners.

For instance, Nik Weston, the coordinator for Yoobee South Seas and NZST Airport campus, brings a unique perspective as a late diagnosed autistic, fostering a deeper understanding of neurodiverse learners.

Wendy Roesler, the coordinator for YCCI, NZST, and Elite in Wellington contributes vast experience in education, while Fiona McDonald at YCCI Christchurch is a former high school dean.

The highly qualified team stands ready to smooth out any challenges in the learning journey, providing steadfast support to diverse learners. Looking ahead, the Learner Success Team aims to roll out diversity and inclusion pins. These pins, which Yoobee staff can choose to wear, enable neurodivergent learners to easily identify the team, offering a discreet way for those hesitant about disclosing a disability to seek help directly from a learner success coordinator without navigating inquiries or divulging information prematurely.
