A tribute to Sir John Graham

It is with sadness that we learnt this week of the death of one of our beloved founders, Sir John Graham, aged 82. Sir John was a renowned New Zealand educationalist, as well as being a leader on and off the sports field. In 1995, he had a vision for a new school model, one that was liberal, academic, and focused on senior students.

Alongside co-founder Dawn Jones, Sir John started the innovative and academically focused Senior College in central Auckland, with the help of New Zealand businessman Danny Chan. For the next two decades, Sir John remained closely associated with Academic Colleges Group, now known as ACG Education, as we have grown into a 50 campus education group across New Zealand and Asia.

Sir John’s passion for education and students has always shaped and driven our overarching philosophy of educational excellence. We thank him for his service. He will be much missed but never forgotten.
