Tourism experience that’s a Cut Above

A group of 24 Kinjo Gakuin University students from Nagoya, Japan attended a bespoke Flight Attending short course at New Zealand School of Tourism, at the Auckland Airport campus last month.

Specially designed for the group, the short course also included a session from Cut Above Academy to add hair and makeup training to the Flight Attending skills being taught.  Immaculate grooming is an essential element of Flight Attending and the students soaked up the additional tips and hints they learnt.

New Zealand School of Tourism frequently creates bespoke programmes for international groups, which is beneficial for all parties.  Trainers have the opportunity to work with international students and learn new aspects of culture, and the students experience a taste of what it’s like to live and study in New Zealand. At a Category One provider like New Zealand School of Tourism.

Students consistently report the training is memorable, with the facilities at New Zealand School of Tourism offering a real plane to train onboard. The trainers are proud of their work, and are keen to showcase the training programmes to international education providers and students.

The teacher from Kinjo Gakuin University, Japan, Shizuko OZAKI, Ph.D says, “The girls absolutely loved their time at New Zealand School of Tourism airport campus.  They enjoyed the hands-on learning and the practical aspect of the training on the 737 aircraft.  They enjoyed interacting with two other current classes and they made the girls feel very comfortable and welcomed on campus.  The trainer was fantastic with our students, she made the learning easy for them to understand and follow”.

Armani Young, studying Tourism, Travel and Airline Industry says, “Our class loved interacting with the Japanese group they were quiet and shy at first, but soon became comfortable and interacted with our class in a fun way, it was great to share our culture with them”.
