ServiceIQ transition to NZMA confirmed
ServiceIQ will transition into NZMA, part of UP Education, following approval from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), with the transition to take effect from 1 August 2026.
The decision provides certainty for ServiceIQ, its learners, employers, and the wider service sectors it supports across Aotearoa New Zealand.
“This decision provides real certainty for ServiceIQ, our people, and the industries we support. Throughout this process, our priority has been continuity for employers and learners, and a future that strengthens work-based learning in New Zealand. NZMA brings the capability, scale and shared commitment needed to build on what ServiceIQ already does well, while staying grounded in the needs of industry.”
- Tony Laskey, Executive Director, ServiceIQ
NZMA was selected as the preferred receiving provider following an extensive evaluation and engagement process. The transition will follow a lift and shift approach, ensuring continuity across ServiceIQ’s operations, including programmes, staff, and industry relationships.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming ServiceIQ into NZMA and building on the strong foundations that already exist. ServiceIQ has deep industry relationships and a trusted work-based learning model, and our focus will be on supporting and strengthening that over time. Together, we have an opportunity to deliver even better outcomes for learners and employers across the service sectors.”
- Kylie Wilson, Chief Executive, NZMA
For employers and learners, the transition is expected to be seamless:
All programmes and apprenticeships will continue as they are today
ServiceIQ teams will remain in place, continuing to support employers and learners nationwide
There will be no disruption to training or delivery
The transition reflects the move to establish a new long-term organisational home for ServiceIQ beyond the current Industry Skills Board framework, ensuring continuity and stability for the future.
ServiceIQ will continue to operate with a strong industry focus, while benefiting from NZMA’s capability, scale and infrastructure as part of the broader UP Education group.
