NZMA and Academy NZ join forces!

Students will be the winners in Christchurch as leading vocational educator NZMA and Academy NZ are combined at one central site at 365 Madras Street in the city.  With an Open Day taking place today from 2.30pm facilities and advice will be available in one central hub for students.

Linda Williamson, Campus Manager says, “NZMA is a well-known national vocational education provider, and Academy NZ has a long 30 year history of specialising in Pharmacy and Floristry programmes.  The Christchurch campus will pride itself on creating a friendly culture that embraces the diverse needs of all learners. We believe this will engage and help build a strong community.”

The campus will offer programmes in Pharmacy Technician, Floristry, Retail, Food and Beverage, Hospitality, Business and Technology, Information Technology Essentials and a National Certificate Educational Achievement L1.

On the day, NZMA students will be showcasing their hospitality skills serving a campus signature cocktail, wine, other drinks and delicious canopies.  There are opportunities for networking for industry, students and staff, and graduates will be inspiring others with their stories of success.

The community orientated campus will be accessible and offer an onsite café for staff and students, a training restaurant and bar, on-site counsellor and team of Youth Coaches who can offer a wraparound service to students.

With the recent government announcement of fees-free tertiary study, local students have a fantastic opportunity to gain free qualifications to launch their career.  All New Zealand students who finish school in 2017, or will finish school during 2018, qualify for a year of free provider based tertiary education or industry training up to a cap of $12,000 per year.

The policy will also benefit those locals who aren’t school leavers but are keen to get some training. There are no age restrictions, and adults who have done half a full-time year of tertiary education or training may also qualify for fees-free.
