Friendly, liberal environment attracted Vivi to New Zealand

“Taking a pathways course is the fastest way for you to get into your dream universities and help you to get used to the NZ environment.”

Xuewei (Vivi) Cong, 18, from China, decided to study in New Zealand because of its friendly and liberal nature. She says she loves the environment – and the people. “I meet the warmest people here.”

Now studying a conjoint Commerce and Science degree at the University of Auckland majoring in Accounting at Statistics, Vivi says ACG Pathways helped her prepare for the Kiwi way of studying.

“It’s totally different from Chinese-style study. And, of course, the Pathways course shortened my time to get into my dream university.”

Other highlights were the time she spent with her ‘lovely’ teachers and the friendships she formed with classmates from different countries.

While for now Vivi’s career ambitions range from financial analyst to statistician to ranger, she is 100% clear she has chosen the right degree. “I love these two subjects so much. It is all about love,” she explains. In the future she hopes to do further studies at an Ivy League university.

Meantime, her advice for prospective Pathways students who would like to follow in her footsteps?

“Pathways can be really difficult for some students, but you won’t regret if you choose it. Taking a pathways course is the fastest way for you to get into your dream universities and help you to get used to the NZ environment.”

Xuewei (Vivi) Cong completed a University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies at ACG Pathways. She is an ACG Ambassador.
