Daryl Neo Boon Kiat

An ACG Education pathways student has received a $5,000 scholarship from Victoria University of Wellington to put toward his first year of undergraduate study.

Daryl Neo Boon Kiat, 22, from Singapore, successfully completed the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies Programme this year. He will now undertake a Bachelor of Commerce at Victoria and hopes to specialise in Human Resources.

Daryl said he had enjoyed the relaxed lifestyle and flexibility of studying in New Zealand. Winning the scholarship was a complete surprise and caps off his successful path to a Kiwi university.

“ACG has helped me a lot in my journey to undertake a degree as it’s given me an insight into how the New Zealand university system works. The highlight of my pathway course has been making new friends from around the world – and the teachers are also great and nice!”

Pathways tutor Monica Simmons said Daryl had impressed his teachers throughout his time on the programme. “He was always quick to the task, had an inquiring approach to his learning and demonstrated a consistently conscientious work ethic to achieve success. He was friendly, respectful and enjoyed good relationships with staff and students alike,” she said.

Victoria University of Wellington scholarships are awarded for high academic performance, excellent attendance, leadership, commitment, respect and self-discipline. Only one scholarship is awarded per term.
