Builders Academy Australia achieves multi-award-winning-status

With dedicated leadership and commitment to constant innovation, Andrew Shea, CEO of Builders Academy Australia (BAA), has been named Professional Services Executive of the Year for two years running.

Awarded by CEO Magazine as part of the annual Executive of the Year Awards, the event celebrates the best of the best in Australia’s business industry.

Andrew joined BAA in 2015, quickly leading the trades training provider to multi-award-winning status as the Victorian Small Training Provider of the Year at the Victorian Training Awards in 2018, 2020 and 2021, and Small Training Provider of the Year at the Australian Training Awards for 2020 and again as runners-up for the same category in 2021.

“These awards are a recognition of the positive impact BAA has had on the Australian building and construction workforce.”

“Our key point of difference has been our ‘Builders Training Builders’ philosophy, an emphasis on delivering industry-relevant skills from leading professionals across our building and construction courses.”

“BAA’s recipe for success is helping plug critical skills shortages across the construction sector in Australia – supporting over 30,000 learners to pathway towards becoming registered builders, carpenters, civil construction professionals, building supervisors and construction managers.”

Andrew says leading a team of passionate individuals who strive to make a difference in the lives of students is the key to unlocking learner potential.

“The values that our company lives in all that we do include authenticity, humility, passion and a focus on empower staff to work towards achieving a greater goal.”

A new chapter for BAA

In 2021, UP Education acquired Builders Academy Australia to build on its expansion into the Vocational Education and Training, Higher Education, and online learning market in Australia.

Andrew Shea says joining a large-scale Australasian education provider heralds an exciting new chapter for the business as it looks to train more of Australia’s future builders and others working in ancillary roles across the sector.

“The acquisition by UP Education at this time of growth will assist us to grow our domestic and international learning community in an increasingly competitive education environment.”

“Further maximising the online learning opportunity and work-integrated learning will be an important part of this and we are sure that there is much that other businesses within the UP Education group can also learn from our success and business practices.”

With a strong footing in the Australian trades training market, UP Education is proud to have BAA as part of the Group.
