Antonio Álvarez Morán: Keynote speaker for UP Education International Academic Conference

Media, Culture and Society: 2022 UP Education International Academic Conference to be held in Auckland, New Zealand.

This December, UP Education is holding its first international academic conference, led by keynote speaker, renowned Mexican artist, Antonio Álvarez Morán.

A celebrated and prolific award-winning artist, Álvarez Morán is associated with the neo-Mexicanist movement, or Neomexicanidad, and fuses influences from Mexican Colonial, Catholic, and Pre-Hispanic art, social history and culture, with graphic art and popular culture, while drawing on philosophies of Cubism, and Surrealism.

He held the esteemed position of Professor of Art at La Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) from 1991 – 2016. He holds a Master of Arts in Painting, from the Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, United States of America, and a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Arts and Design, from UDLAP, San Andrés, Cholula, México.

The conference brings together delegates from a range of international and national education institutions around the world including the USA, India, Australia, and New Zealand.

With a group of accredited affiliated tertiary colleges across Australasia, the UP Education conference will showcase and promote scholarly interests, academic research fields, and vocational training disciplines across the topic of media culture and society.

Conference Convenor, Dr Kathryn Hardy Bernal is the Head of Research & Postgraduate Studies at Yoobee College of Creative Innovation.

“The aim of the conference is to unite the wider collegiate of the UP Education group and to extend our welcome to delegates outside our association, who share in a pursuit of knowledge that contributes to discourses which shape our cultures and societies,” says Dr Hardy Bernal.

“We are excited and honoured to announce our keynote speaker, renowned Mexican artist and filmmaker, Antonio Álvarez Morán.”

The 2022 UP Education International Academic Conference is being hosted by Yoobee College of Creative Innovation in Auckland, New Zealand.
