Animation College first Wacom authorised training centre in New Zealand

Animation College, with campuses in Auckland, Manukau and Rotorua is the first college in New Zealand to be acknowledged as a Wacom authorised training centre (WATC).

Wacom is a global technology company that delivers digital technology through powerful tools like computers, tablets, smartpads, stylus, and pens to inspire creativity, that helps shape and share new ideas, and innovative solutions for business.

As an WATC, Animation College students will have the added advantage of:

  • Entering in the Next Level Global Competition – the student component is only open to WATC only.  As a global competition this gives students unprecedented access to a world platform where work can be acknowledged.  Animation College student Sophie Usui recently placed as one of five winners chosen from a pool of 3,800 entries.
  • Accessing special education pricing and support throughout the year from Wacom.

Animation College Chief Executive Officer, Ana Maria Rivera says, “We are delighted to be able to offer such an advantage to our Animation College staff and students through this partnership with Wacom.  As an authorised WATC we can give our teams access to the latest tools that creative professionals use.  Teaching our students on the same pen computers, displays and tablets that the industry-leading studios and agencies use, lets them explore their creative potential while developing the real-world skills employers expect. Our partnership goes back a long way and is a natural fit for Animation College, but this solidifies it and opens up unique opportunities for students and to have access to the very latest tech to help their ideas come to life”.

Animation College is New Zealand’s only creative education college to teach 2D and 3D animation at both a diploma and bachelor degree level.
